How Easy Is It To Make A Home Made Solar Panel?

There are many DIY solar panel blueprints available, and most of these will have wiring diagrams.  It’s important to follow the diagram closely.  The individual solar cells should be mounted on a piece of thick plywood, so that they are facing the same direction.  To see how big the backing board needs to be, just lay out the cells as shown in the wiring diagram.  You can begin soldering wires to the cells after they’ve been mounted.  Make sure that the wires are secured neatly to the backing board, and that they don’t block the cells’ access to the sunlight.  Once this has been done, take the panel outside and check the voltage with a meter to make sure that everything is as it should be.  If not, there may be a problem with the wiring.  Complete the solar panel by adding sides and a transparent front to the backing. Use weatherproof caulking so that the enclosure is tight enough to deal with the elements.

Now, you can mount the panel in a spot that sees lots of sun exposure.  The DC electricity produced by the panel can be used to charge batteries or power some small appliances.  When you need AC power, you can obtain it by using a small inverter.
